Vietnamese Navy receives two home-made missile ships

HANOI, – The Ba Son Shipyard under the General Department of Defence Industry on June 2 handed over two missile ships, designated M3 and M4 to the Vietnam People’s Navy.

Addressing the handover ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Truong Quang Khanh highlighted the staff of the Ba Son Shipyard for making great efforts to complete the modern missile vessels.

He emphasised that the second handover of M3 and M4 vessels has marked a milestone in Vietnam’s defence industry in general and the military shipbuilding industry in particular.

He asked Ba Son Shipyard to assign highly-qualified staff with the task of realizing the third handover of M5 and M6 missile vessels in mid 2016 as scheduled.

The Project 1241.8 Molniya Missile Boat is intended to engage combatant ships, amphibious ships, and other vessels at open sea. It has the variety of weapons with surface-to-surface and surface-to-air capabilities.
