SHAH ALAM, -- The Royal Malaysian Air Force successfully conducted two missile firings – an anti ship and anti-radiation versions of the Kh-31 supersonic missile on Sept 20.
According to a Press statement by the Defence Ministry today, the missile firing exercise was conducted by a single Sukhoi Su-30MKM of the 11 Squadron off the coast of Sabah.
“To ensure the success of the missile firing exercise, detailed planning and coordination were carried out by the Air Operations Headquarters together with the squadron involved.
“RMAF also work closely with other agencies namely the Royal Malaysian Navy, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency , Department of Civil Aviation and Petronas to ensure the successful conclusion of the exercise.
“The success of the missile firings is a considerable footnote in the history of the RMAF as both missiles fired successfully destroyed the target.
“The success also prove the confidence of the RMAF of its weapon systems and its readiness,” the statement concluded.
